Madaket Beach Ride

Hop on the Madaket Road bike path and follow it about 5.5 miles west to Madaket Beach — a favorite for sunset views over the water. The terrain is gentle with some winding stretches, making it a relaxed ride for most fitness levels. Grab a bite at Millie’s before heading back or just enjoy watching the sun drop over Hither Creek

Cisco Beach & Brewery Loop

Take the Hummock Pond Road bike path (about 3 – 4 miles) out to Cisco Beach, known for some of the island’s best surfing. Along the way – or after a swim – stop by Cisco Brewers, Bartlett’s Farm, or 167 Raw for food and drinks. It’s a great half-day trip that mixes beach time with local flavor.

Surfside Beach Run

One of the most popular and easiest rides on the island – the Surfside bike path runs roughly 2.5 miles from town to Surfside Beach. Expect a wide sandy beach, lifeguards, restrooms, and bike racks. A good choice if you want maximum beach time with minimal pedaling.

Polpis Road to ’Sconset

This scenic route runs along Polpis Road past the harbor and the Windswept Cranberry Bog, with views of moors and rolling hills along the way. It also passes the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum. The path continues all the way to the village of ’Sconset, where you’ll find a market, a few eating spots, and the Sankaty Head Lighthouse nearby.

Milestone Road to ’Sconset

A flatter alternative to Polpis Road, the Milestone Road bike path also leads out to ’Sconset, with views of cranberry bogs and open grassland along the way. Many riders do the full loop – heading out on Polpis Road and back on Milestone Road.

Dionis Beach Escape

For a quieter beach experience, follow the Eel Point Road and Cliff Road paths out to Dionis Beach. It’s a shorter ride than Madaket or Surfside, with calmer waters and fewer crowds — a nice option for families or anyone looking to avoid the busier spots.

Historic Downtown Wander

Explore Nantucket’s historic downtown – cobblestone streets, harbor front views, shops, galleries, and restaurants all within easy biking (or walking) distance. A relaxed way to spend an afternoon, especially if you’re easing into your trip or winding one down.
